How to take care of your recliners

By Julie Warder

Recliner chairs can be found in many homes these days, and the people who use them tend to use them for longer periods of time. This may be because of mobility problems or another reason, but this extended use can wear out your recliners if you aren't careful. This is why you need to know how to take care of your riser chairs and recliners properly.

If you want to learn how to care for your recliner chair, you must firstly think about the kind of material it is made of. By far the most common materials used to make riser chairs are leather and fabric, and both of these require different types of care and maintenance.

There are kinds of fabric chairs which are made of microfiber material and are both dust proof and water repellent. If you can, you could always choose one of these recliners. If you spill anything, you can wipe it right off. What's more, you won't need to vacuum your chair quite so much.

If your riser recliner is made of leather, on the other hand, you will need to put in a little more effort in taking care of them. If you want to keep them looking as pristine as the day you brought them home, you need to care for and maintain your leather recliner chair properly.

The first thing you need to do with leather riser chairs is to keep them out of direct sunlight as much as you can. This is because too much exposure can cause the colour of the leather to fade, and the material itself may start to split or crack.

If you spill anything on your leather chair, make sure it is cleaned off right away. If you find a stain or a mark on the material, you should be able to get rid of it using a leather cleaning kit, which may also contain a leather conditioning product. This can be used to nourish the leather and help it to maintain its sheen.
