Get tan-tastic at your Egypt, Majorca and Palma hotels this summer

By Catherine McCulloch

Whether you're planning on sunning yourself in luxury Majorca, Sharm el Sheikh, or Palma hotels this summer, make sure that you're still glowing for months after you've got home with these handy tanning hints. Failure to prepare: whether you're flying around the world in six months or six days, it's never too late to start preparing for the beach with your pre-tanning routine.

Firstly, make sure you don't feel the burn by protecting your skin from photo-damage by taking sun care skin nutrient capsules before you board, and investing in some high quality and high factor sun cream. As well as increasing the risk of sun damage and skin cancer, burning can also prevent your chances of building an even and impressive tan, so getting the right SPF protection (at least SPF 15) is as essential as booking the right Majorca hotels.

Buff up: Also, to encourage a tan that sticks, exfoliate your skin thoroughly before exposing it to the sun. This will reduce dryness and peeling, as well as encouraging a deeper colour. Once you've spent a few days at your hotels in Sharm and have gotten exposed to the sun however, adopt a more nourishing skincare routine, and ditch any harsh scrubs.

Stay safe: Whatever your skin type make sure you tan safely this summer. That means not only layering the cream on every two hours, but also avoiding the sun when it is at its hottest - between 11am and 2pm. Apply your sun cream properly as well as regularly too, making sure that it has been absorbed fully before you step out of the shade and into that sun.

If you're planning on taking a dip, purchase a good waterproof option, and re-apply it regularly. Have a soft spot: now you've got your tan, it's time to try and keep ahold of it, so keep moisturizing as regularly as you can.
