Mothers Day Celebrations for the Mature Mum

By Steve Alexander

Mothers Day is all about celebrating our mums so give her more than the usual box of chocolates and shop-bought card this year, no matter how old she is. All mums should be celebrated and adored, with so much experience, wisdom and love to offer.

This Mothers Day make sure that grandmothers and more mature mums are still being spoiled. There are plenty of ways to make her feel special, whether you're a son, a daughter, or a grandchild. One of the best and simplest ways is to centre the day around your mum's passions and hobbies. Art-loving mothers could be whisked out to a gallery exhibition for the day, while those who love to be active in the outdoors could be taken cycling or walking.

Gather the women of the family for a fabulous shopping trip for a great girly day out. If you're near London, head to the stylish department stores like Selfridges, Harrods or Harvey Nichols. You could present her with a voucher for her favourite store and then make a day of it, with lunch or coffee.

Going out for afternoon tea is an excellent option, and you'll be able to dine on fancy cakes and sandwiches, and sip cups of luxury teas. Whether you take your mum out for a champagne brunch at a top cafe, or go out for dinner and a West End show, a meal is a great way to spoil someone.

Make Mothers Day even more special by giving the gift of time, which is always the greatest gift you can give your mother. Take an interest in her hobbies by spending the day chatting at home or take her out for the day or the evening, it's up to you.
